Bind On Equip 66

Show notes

Welcome to bind on equip, the podcast that wears a ribbed condom inside out...for our own pleasure.

This Bind On Equip episode is brought to you in part due to the kind sponsorship of Ariisa.

Who's doing the talking here, you might ask. Well i'm Wemb, and it gives me great personal pleasure to introduce to you my co-hosts The Wych... and the lovely Tempeste....

Wembs week.

Good week
Enjoyed a public holiday on Monday
Nice not to have to rush home to raid after work for a change.
Recorded our third episode of cable wasteland with cypher from the addicted as a special guest.
Hard to organise with the different time zones plus cypher was busy Sunday, zed was busy Monday and wych was out seeing Alice in wonderland on Saturday.
A lot of work locked in early sunday morning for cypher which was 11pm our time. Was feeling very proud of myself until we were all playing at 10:30 and I realised I hadn't told wych we were recording at 11.

Temps week

Well the Deddy saga continues with me sending him to school on Friday, only to come home and find a message on my answering machine from the hospital stating that they had found a break in his wrist xray ... So after trying to call them back and leaving messages twice on Friday afternoon, which were not returned. On Sat morning I rang the hospital general line and was put through to the emergency dept, who of course told us to come in, so we went into the hospital and Deddy had his left wrist put into plaster!

Other than that, I had a nice lunch on Friday with the ever lovely Ashayo, although we discovered that Warrandyte (which is about half way) has no where to eat for lunch (or so we thought) so we ended up getting a pie from the bakery there ... only to decide that we wanted to find somewhere to have coffee after and after driving ... 100m up the road found a really nice little cafe ... I swear it was not there the last time I drove that way! Anyway next time, we will know where to find food.

We enjoyed a wild and wet long weekend in Melbourne. It was nice to have a few days home with the family.

Hey hey guys
Deathskeeper here I'm trying to level a Warrior(Kissmysteel) & Paladin(Bubblelove) I see a lot of tanks mostly Paladins with shields what do you think?
And don't say Bear cause I'll be running a Druid(Hermath) soon. Thanks for your help and for the great guild. Death

Wych's week

Good week, relatively quiet little bit of STO slowly getting to the right level to get access to play a full Klingon - massive thanks to BigBlueDragon for the DelTaco shuttle pet code! Bit of comic book shopping on the weekend with the worgen & Ms.B..they both enjoyed it and came out with new digest books of their own while I got 2 new trade papers, I'm really enjoying are trips out. Went & saw Alice in Wonderland at Imax 3D with the lovely Sharon as well.

Hey guys this is Daladenn on the Azshara server from the guild Brutality,

i was thinking the other day while listening to a few podcasts. What if blizzard gave us an instance where you can go in to a five man all the way up to a twenty five man instance or raid to practice your skills without

taking gear damage. and your teammates were just NPC's this way you could build up your skills and rotation while just not sitting on your ass in org dalaran or stormwind.

anyways love your show and thanks for reading

Guild.

It was a sad day on Saturday, Jeg and Drae decided after much soul searching that they needed to leave the loving embrace of Pants on Head to creat a guild that was more in line with Pugcast for their listeners. It was heart wrenching, as they are really good guys that we all love to play with and hang out, but we understood that they needed to leave to fulfill the needs of their listeners. We wish them well in their new endeavours and look forward to the usual banter in /thecoolkids channel - don't forget "the".

We began a new guild game on the weekend ... Wemb decided to take Zooe's strategy and Bugger's strategy of spamming the gold seller to new heights. He began a game and we award guild prizes for the winner.

ok the game: You initiate negotiations with the gold seller but instead of using the word gold you substitue it for goats. You start off gently and then get more and more ludicrous as you go.

To Win: You must be the first person to be ignored.

Prize: Ultimately it is up to you, but I have been offering 10g each time.

So this is how it goes down ... someone gets whispered by a gold seller ... you must engage them and wait for them to offer you gold, as soon as they do this, you announce the name to the guild. I then say 10g for the first one to be ignored by XXX . You spam the crap out of them discussing whatever you like, it must be sensible and it cannot be macro'd. The first one to be ignored wins the gold.

Crazy Train.

Wemb:
continued toc in the last week.
Completion in one night continues to elude us thanks to the pvp fight with the ally champs.
Just comes down to moving and pouring the pressure on the first two kills. Dps has to outdo heals.
We also have a little trouble with the twin valkyr but we seem to be able to bluff our way through it.
took a look at new voa boss. took 3 goes to bring him down last night mostly due to learning the mechanic.
want to get on to ICC but really want to do toc in one run first.

Wych:
Actually enjoying the PvP fight because it's not a "learn to process & kill it" fight there is a high random element and while it kills my DPS it increases the hunter resource level

There was a higher level of frustration in some of the calls on Monday night as people were beginning to feel the pinch of repition
It was good to see T10 gear drop for Crazy Train

Temp: I think that it seems to take us a couple of goes to get in our groove, and the thing about TOC is that there is no trash to warm up on. Grats Berat on your t10 pants.

Other Raids.

Wemb:
hoping to schedule another 25 man toc for the weekend
looking at every two weeks unless the popularity really picks up
Also considering putting some other ten man stuff in the calendar for anyone who is interested to sign up on Crazy Train free nights.
Calendar sign up, try to get new 80's and guild members not in private groups geared as well.
Crazy Train & paranoid members to step out unless needed to lead or fill specific roles.

Heroics

Wemb:
just been running for frost on Druid.
been running some more for gear and badges on my warrior

Temp: Did some heroics, enjoying trying to do my 3 every day!

Wych:
Did a few with the usual crew, got enough stone keeper shards & triumph badges to get BoA Heirloom shoulders & chest for my 70 rogue

Pugs.

Wych:
there was a little confusion when we pugged in a warrior with a lowbie group while I was on my Pali - OTing is lame.

LFG system.

Mains.

Wemb:
looking to get Zooey to make me some boots for my moonkin set.
doing very nice numbers and rocking out the gear i've got.

Alts.

Wemb:
running stuff to get gear on my warrior where i can
also grouping with temp, wych, chol, ashayo, zed and zooey on my priest as much as poss on weekends.
dinged 75 on priest.
starting to get gear upgrades on priest which is nice
having fun with shadow, but no interest in rocking it out, just an option for questing and if needed for group balance.

Temp: played a bit on my warlock and at the end of Monday afternoon my warlock had dinged 78 & 79 and Ashayo's response? ... So are you saying that in one more level you will be wanting to run 4 heroics everyday?! Have done a bit of asking and trying to get some information on how to play the warlock, I feel VERY self conscious playing it in front of Ashayo as I really have never used her for anything other than questing with Chol, no research, no idea ... but I think that I have successfully made a couple of changes that are starting to see some benefits ...

Mainly spending my time getting in my heroics and then trying to get the weekly raid quest on Tempeste and Fantasie.

Tempeste hit revered finally with Ebon Blade, but because she transferred Ebon Blade and the Shadow Vault were not unlocked for me ... so I spent some time on Thursday doing the quest chain to unlock that ... I feel good that I did that all by myself.

Wych:
Paladin is now 77 - still got plenty of quests to do as I've just finished Grizzly Hills
Need to focus on Str & Stam kit for my tanking set
After the Paladin is 80 I will probably work on my Priest which is 12

Not sure I'm ready to play my rogue again anytime soon, I'm not good with being squishy melee

World events.

Gear.

Temp: Got my new belt and the gems for it on Storme (264). I have mananged to make up the ground I lost on Ashayo and now I sit directly beneath him yet again ... 18 points ...

I helped Chol to make some badge purchases to boost his gear and he seemed excited about his new stuff and some tips he got on his spec. Grats to Chol on his warrior Choldar, which is one of the first toons that we met when we first went to AoA. I am glad that I was able to see you hit 80.

I got a new dagger on my priest, but now I desperately need a new offhand to compliment the dagger from Garfrost (PoS)

Wemb: got a polearm for my tank- level 232 off anub'arak

Badges.

Wemb: have triumphs to spend but unsure whether to upgrade my 232 to 245 or start buying tank gear.

Wych: Spent Triumphs & Stone Keeps for BoA kit on my rogue
All my alts now have BoA chest & shoulders

Temp: I have triumphs coming out of my wazoo ... going to see if I can get some gear made taht will use crusader orbs for any of my toons ... and use up my badges that way.

Rep.

Wemb:

Warrior got exalted with Wyrmrest accord- first ex, started with them when he was my main with the intention of buying the red drake which i will probably fulfil. Still, he has epic mount and 2k is still steep.

more detail about a feature that’s part of the gear overhaul: the Mastery system set of new game mechanics designed to allow players to become better at what makes their chosen talent tree cool or unique.

want to accomplish three things:

more freedom in how they allocate talent points,

simplify some of the “kitchen sinky” talents that try to do too much at once, add a new stat to high-level gear that makes you better at your chosen role.

Here’s how the system works:

As you spend points in a given talent tree, you’ll receive three different passive bonuses specific to that tree.

The first bonus will increase your damage, healing, or survivability, depending on the intended role of the tree.

The second bonus will be related to a stat commonly found on gear desirable to you, such as Haste or Crit.

The third bonus will be the most interesting, as it will provide an effect completely unique to that tree -- meaning there will be 30 different bonuses of this nature in the game. This third bonus is the one that will benefit from the Mastery rating found on high-level (level 80 to 85) gear.

primary goals:

more flexibility to choose fun or utility-oriented talents

not make you feel obligated to pick up “mandatory” but uninteresting talents, such as passive damage or healing.

Mastery makes every talent in a tree have an invisible additional bullet point that says “and increases your damage by X%.” so you won’t feel like you’re giving up damage in exchange for utility.

There will still be talents that boost damage, but those talents will also affect the way you play. eg: still expect to see talents like Improved Frostbolt, which reduces the cast time of the Frostbolt spell; it increases DPS, but it also affects the mage’s rotation. Piercing Ice, however, is just “6% more damage” and is the kind of talent we’re trying to eliminate by implementing the Mastery system.

Pets / Mounts

Lil' XT finally got its own model, the name is VERY similar to Lil' K.T. and it wouldn't be surprising to see this pet appear on the Blizzard Store at some point.

On a sidenote, both Celestial Steed and X-53 Touring Rocket got their own spell and are confirmed to be 310% flying mount.

Blue Post: Ghost Crawler Tanking Threat http://blue.mmo-champion.com/26/23425588028-do-warriors-really-need-another-cleave.html

I would be very curious to see those numbers. You're making a jump from "Sometimes AE pull off of me" to "AE will always pull off of me," and that's just not what we're seeing. I totally buy that a warrior may work harder to generate as much, or less, AE threat as a paladin. We've acknowledged that is a problem. But that is the comparison I would make, not the comparison between "Sometimes I have to do stuff to maintain threat" and "Under no circumstances should I ever have threat problems."

It isn't the goal that dps can never pull off of you under any situation. If that was the goal, we're wasting an awful lot of the game space on all of these +threat and -threat talents and abilities, when we could just institute a rule that mobs will never retarget off of their initial target (which would hopefully be the tank). I don't think that would make tanking more fun, though it would definitely make it easier.

The threat-related goals still remain:

1) All -- Get threat to scale better at higher dps levels.
2) Paladin -- Nerf the threat capacity of HoR and SoC.
3) Druid -- Something to do on AE packs besides Swipe.
4) DK -- More burst threat, which the Icy Touch change should accomplish.
5) Warrior -- As I've said, we're pretty happy with, minus points 1 and 2 above.
6) I'll add that if taunts retain the ability to miss at all, it should be something you can gear your way out of. It's also possible we'll just make them always hit.

Shouts

Shout out to Tallonpain, just cause I make you do the hunter dirty work each week in TOC doesn't mean I don't think you are an awesome hunter - thanks mate!

Aprillian, cause I miss her, Tallon cause he was having a hard time last week, Glanthur because I miss him, also to Sesshy, and Wes and thanks for being so understanding when i cancelled lunch!

Goodbye.

Here's something to think on until next week - Remember: we've all gotten drunk & taken on a family sized pizza that looked good at the time but ended up making you feel sick & sorry in the morning.
